All schools Pre-K through 12, private and public, in Southern VT are invited to attend this day-long symposium. By gathering together and sharing ideas about best-practice we will continue to develop the professional skills of our educators and increase opportunities for collaboration. The keynote speaker for the symposium will be Linda Hecker, M.Ed. Ms. Hecker has taught at Landmark College in Putney, VT since its’ founding in 1985. Currently a lead education specialist for the institute, she oversees teacher training programs, teaches English, study skills, and music classes, and served as an academic advisor, Chair of the Tutorial Department, and Academic Dean. She received her M.Ed. from the University of Hartford and B.A. from Brandeis University.

Maple Street Sets Strategic Plan for 2011-2016

The Board of Trustees of Maple Street School announces a new strategic plan for 2011-2016. Fran Bisselle, head of school, states, “I am excited about continuing our transition from a start-up entrepreneurial school to one cultivating long-term loyalty, holding true to our mission of excellence while maintaining a joyful learning atmosphere, where students feel known and loved. New priorities will include raising an endowment to attract and retain students from all socio-economic levels through our substantial need-based scholarship program. We are also excited to develop and retain educators of the highest caliber by working toward higher salary levels and benefits. In addition, we want to continue to deliver the highest quality education using the latest technology, research, resources, and assessments that are reflective of the 21st century skills our students will need to be productive global citizens. Finally, we are excited to pursue a facilities plan that enables us to move towards the operation of the school as environmentally sustainable.”
