Librarian

The Maple Street School Library is an inviting and welcoming space.  It houses a collection of nearly 10,000 titles.  The collection is automated with Readerware.  Students in grades K-4 have regularly scheduled classes of 30 minutes, once-a-week.  Students in grades 5-8 use the library and its collection to support academic work, pleasure reading, and independent study time.  Currently the position is 2-days-a-week, (14 hours), but days/hours are flexible.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching and Collaboration

  • Plan and present an engaging, literature rich program for students grades K-4 

  • Promote Dorothy Canfield Fisher program for grades 5-8

  • Collaborate with faculty to support and enhance their curriculums

  • Collaborate with faculty to develop a new curriculum on digital literacy

  • Provide resources for units of study

  • Assist with student research



Collection

Management of the collection 


  • Cataloging of new, donated, and gifted books

  • Book processing and repair

  • New book purchasing

  • Student check-in/check-out

  • Generating overdue notices

  • Monthly displays

  • Shelving, shelf maintenance

After School Program Coordinator

Maple Street School is seeking to hire a person to staff its after school program for children in grades Kindergarten through Grade 4. The program runs Monday through Thursday every day there is school from 3:10 pm to 5:15 pm. On a typical afternoon, there are 12 students in this program each afternoon. The program coordinator is responsible for overseeing a range of activities ranging from playing on the playground to assisting with homework. The ideal candidate will have experience working with young children (K-4 experience preferred) in a camp or school setting. The program begins in early September and runs through early June, excluding school vacations.
