Maple Street School is currently seeking a full-time K-8 music teacher for the 2017-2018 academic year. The music teacher will be solely responsible for the implementation of all instrumental and voice curricula at the school. Class periods are 40 or 50 minutes long depending on the grade, and the music teacher meets with each class approximately two or three periods per week. Class sizes range from 9 students to a maximum of 16 students. There is a beautiful and spacious music classroom on campus, complete with a wide range of instruments and practice rooms. The music program receives strong support from the community and the music teacher is responsible for organizing and directing two major concerts per year (winter and spring) in a performing arts space that can accommodate over 350 people. Maple Street provides the music department with a healthy budget and provides multiple professional development opportunities for its staff. In addition to normal classroom duties, the music teacher will be responsible for other school-related activities (All School Meetings, recess and dismissal duty, etc) as outlined by the Head of School. Maple Street School is an accredited and state approved K-8 independent coeducational day school with 120 students located in Manchester, Vermont. Since its founding in 1998, Maple Street has provided its students with a strong foundation in the arts.
