Architect and MSS alumna Emily Gasperetti ’02 visited the 8th grade art class on Thursday, April 27 as part of Maple Street’s Careers in Art unit. The 8th graders recently completed their own architecture projects with a design of a restaurant. Gasperetti is an architect in Glens Falls, NY, and came to Maple Street in its inaugural year in 1998. She was part of only the second class of 8th graders to graduate from Maple Street. Emily went on to study at Emma Willard School, and then got her bachelor’s degree with a triple major from Hobart & William Smith. She received her graduate degree from UMASS in architecture. Emily said that she learned to love art at home with two artist parents, and then at Maple Street. She fell in love with architecture at Emma Willard and has found ways of merging art and architecture throughout her life.
