French is the one language regularly taught at Maple Street due in part to the primacy of French in the global economy, to our proximity to Canada, and to our commitment to understanding our roots and neighbors in Vermont. The proximity of Québec enables us to take seventh grade students on an annual trip in order to use their foreign language in context. Historically, many Vermont place names and families have francophone roots, making studying French a valuable part of understanding who we are and where we have come from. French permeates Maple Street on many different levels; we embrace excellence by making the language a part of the school day, not only in French classes.
