Off-Campus Exploration
Field trips are an integral part of the Maple Street School experience as we believe Piaget when he asserted that significant hands-on experiences “build critical cognitive structures,” not to mention memories and close friendships. Each teacher is responsible for designing trips that compliment his or her curriculum and enhance their students’ experiences. Maple Street School students have visited many local highlights including the Southern Vermont Art Center, Weston Playhouse, Manchester Music Festival, Taylor Farm, Mad Tom Orchard, Hildene, Merck Forest, Hopkins Center at Dartmouth College, MASS MoCA, Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, MA, Springfield, MA Museums, among others. In addition, the upper school students take overnight trips to New York City, Quebec, and Washington, DC as part of their program.
